Xie Hongdong 谢红东

Xie Hongdong’s uses photography to explore the serendipitous connections between his subconscious mind and his external environment. The medium of photography is particularly well-suited to that end, as it inherently integrates external subjects with the artist’s subjectivity.

Xie Hongdong was born in Gansu Province, China, in 1986; he lives and works in Beijing where he has maintained his self-taught photography practice since 2012. His recent exhibitions include Inside the Reed and Ice Crystal—Stanley Fung and Xie Hong Dong Exhibition, Artrue, Taipei, Taiwan (2018) and Dust-Light, Clerkenwell Space, Beijing (2016).
